For Brands
What does Velvet cost for brands?
Nothing today — brands use Velvet free and pay creators directly. The published model is Scout $0, Campaign $179/month and Studio $479/month, each with a declining fee (15%, 10%, 6%) on bookings once they run through Velvet checkout. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
When am I charged?
You aren't yet. When subscriptions and checkout launch, plans bill monthly or annually and every fee is shown before you confirm.
Do creators pay Velvet a cut?
No. Creators pay nothing — no listing fee and no percentage of the agreed rate. The demand side funds the platform.
Which metrics can I trust, and how fresh are they?
Metrics marked Verified come from a creator's own live YouTube connection or a signed export the creator sends from Statcard, and each profile shows when its stats were last refreshed. More platforms are coming; self-reported numbers are always labelled as such.
How is my payment protected?
Every deal's rate, deliverables, usage rights and payment status are recorded on the deal itself, visible to both sides. Today brands pay creators directly; payments through Velvet are coming.
What happens if work is late, rejected or disputed?
Deliverables go through an approval window — you review, approve, or request changes before a deal completes. If something can't be resolved in the deal, contact us.
What appears on my billing statement?
Nothing yet. When checkout ships, the exact descriptor is shown before you pay.
Can I cancel or change plans anytime?
There's nothing to cancel yet. When subscriptions launch there are no contracts: upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time, effective at the end of the billing period.
What's prohibited on Velvet?
The marketplace itself is strictly SFW: no explicit content on profiles, briefs or the platform, and everyone on it is 18+. The content policy sets out the full standards for both sides.
For Creators
How do I join, and does it cost anything?
Velvet is application-only — apply with your stage name and platforms, and we onboard from the waiting list as spots open. Applying and membership are free, and Velvet takes no percentage of your rate — you keep 100% of what you agree with a brand.
How do I get paid?
Your rate, deliverables and payment status are recorded on every deal, visible to you and the brand throughout. You agree the rate up front and the deal tracks what's owed until it's paid.
Do I have to use my legal name or show my face?
No. Stage names are first-class — no legal name appears on any public profile, and you choose what to list. Your contact details are never exposed by the platform.
Who sees my rates?
Signed-in brand accounts only. Visitors — including other creators — never see your rates.
How does verification work?
You connect your YouTube channel yourself and stats pull live from the platform — or you send a signed export from Statcard for your other accounts. More direct connections are coming. You can leave numbers self-reported, but they'll be labelled that way.
Can I turn down work?
Always. Briefs and offers are invitations — you accept or decline each one, and terms (including boundaries and usage rights) are agreed before anything starts.
Is my content hosted on Velvet?
No explicit content is ever hosted on Velvet. The marketplace is SFW; your profile is a professional storefront, not a content platform.
